Ian Ord
Director, Middle East
Ian is a former fighter pilot and senior officer who served in the Royal Air Force, the United States Air Force, the Royal Oman Air Force as fighter squadron commander, and as a fast jet advisor to the United Arab Emirates Air Force and Air Defence. In addition, Ian was a weapons instructor pilot on various jet fighters. He served in the Far East, Middle East, the UK, and the USA.
Following his flying career, Ian settled with his wife in the Sultanate of Oman, where he was General Manager of a distinguished group of local Omani companies. He was also the General Manager of the first defence offset project for Oman – the Oman Aircraft Control College which operates military and civilian air traffic control courses for students from Oman, Iran, Pakistan, and the other GCC countries.
Ian is presently an advisor and consultant to a number of British, French, and US defence companies. He has lived for 34 years in the Arabian Gulf.
Ian has a wealth of personal and business contacts in the defence and aviation world and in the Gulf. Ian’s unique and varied professional and business background combined with his excellent good humoured interpersonal skills, integrity, discretion, and flexibility bring significant value to Aviatrade as the Middle East Director.
